About me
Hello everyone! My name is Rai 😊, certified teacher with experience teaching linguistics at universities and Spanish online to students of all levels, I have also worked as a medical interpreter. I speak Spanish (my main language), English and a little Quechua (my family's language).
I have 7 years of experience teaching Spanish online and in universities. I have a degree in Linguistics from the best university in Peru and I specialized as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My methodology, based on the task-based approach and a critical, transfeminist and neurodivergent pedagogy 🏳️⚧️♾️, ensures that each lesson has a practical purpose: that you can use Spanish in real situations, from shopping at the supermarket to writing an argumentative essay. In addition, I have experience as an interpreter in the medical field, so I can help you learn Spanish for specific professional contexts.

I cannot recommend Raiza enough! She is the best Spanish teacher I have ever worked with. She is very clear in her speech, very patient, and very good at finding various ways of explaining in Spanish when I am confused. She uses the lesson time very efficiently, and lets me struggle to converse without interruption for a period of time before going back and showing me, with written notes, the errors I have made and the corrections needed. She is proficient in linguistics in general and can explain the rules of Spanish grammar in a way that I understand and remember. She is also a really nice person and interesting to talk to, so conversation with her is fun!

I haven’t learned or practice Spanish in many years and I want to try to improve my conversational skills since I encounter many Spanish speaking people as a physician. I was extremely nervous to start taking lessons but Raiza has been so approachable and supportive. I appreciate the structure of classes, the notes she takes so I can review my mistakes and grammar, and the light homework assigned. It’s stress free and I can feel myself becoming more comfortable. Lessons are mostly in Spanish and I really appreciate her real time corrections of my grammar with explanations. Raiza is a superb tutor for anyone who is serious about learning Spanish. She has a university-level education in linguistics, making her explanations of language-learning concepts exceptionally precise and clear. She quickly assessed my (low) existing ability and tailored her lessons according to my specific needs and interests. She has access to quality academic resources and fun activities to bring different concepts to life. Our classes are challenging as we mostly converse in Spanish, but she has a strong command of English which helps when my comprehension falters. I've made way more progress in speaking Spanish than I would have thought possible in our relatively short time. Raiza is an extremely attentive and skilled tutor. I was initially anxious about starting Spanish lessons as a complete beginner, but, despite my limited fluency, Raiza has been able to make every lesson engaging and fruitful. I especially appreciate how Raiza takes notes on-screen during our conversations, helping me catch mistakes in real time while maintaining a record of concepts and vocabulary, which she send to me after every class. Importantly, Raiza also does a great job of creating a welcoming and fun learning environment for her students.

Raiza is an incredible teacher. I would recommend her to students of all levels. Raiza provides notes after every class for you to review, as well as homework, and offers textbooks and other materials for further study. Lessons are mostly in Spanish, which really helps with conversational skills; and Raiza also makes a point of explaining how Spanish grammar works. (As an anglophone who was never taught proper grammar, this is so helpful on multiple levels.) I can't recommend Raiza highly enough!

Raiza is an excellent teacher. In my case, the lessons focus on conversation and are always well adapted to my level and my goals. She offers interesting conversation topics and provides me with the associated material so that I can study it before each class. She always helps me when I have doubts and corrects me when my pronunciation, vocabulary, or sentences are not correct. She is punctual, attentive, and her classes are always enjoyable. I highly recommend her classes.
