About me

¡Hola! Languages have always captivated me, connecting people across cultures. My International Relations degree fueled my fluency in English and French, and now living in Brazil, Portuguese is under my belt. Mandarin Chinese is next!

But languages are more than just words. Teaching brings me immense joy. I believe language learning is an enriching adventure, expanding horizons and challenging minds.

I was inspired to teach by my mother, a special education teacher. My passion for teaching was solidified through volunteer work teaching literacy at an orphanage. After a language exchange in college, I pursued a CELTA course to teach English and started my online teaching career. I've guided over a thousand students, empowering them through Spanish. Currently, I'm teaching English and Spanish in a favela community project in Rio de Janeiro.

Catherine is by far my favorite tutor that I have had over the years. She'll teach you all the grammar and vocabulary that you need, but she'll also teach you slang and culture. For me, that's been the best combo for me to retain my Spanish. She's very patient if you are slow with a concept though <3. It helps that she has a good sense of humor too! She has been an absolute angel to me with my crazy schedule because I work two jobs that don't have a real set schedule. I would recommend her to anyone of any level of Spanish <3!

Catherine is really good at explaining very complex topics and is very patient! I'm getting into some advanced topics that are very difficult to understand and Catherine has a way of explaining them so they make sense. She also has a really strong understanding of the English language, so she can explain her native language in a way that makes sense in English. She also understands sometimes new concepts take some time to sink in and fully understand so she is very patient when it comes to that as well. She also is very upbeat and cheerful and makes learning Spanish fun. She is my favorite tutor in Preply!
